I designed and painted this stunning mural for my clients who wished to transform one bedroom of their home into a nursery for their soon-to-be-born baby boy! They suggested a bird theme using birds that are local to the area.
After researching some of the most frequently seen and beautiful birds, along with plenty of bird watching myself, I came up with a design that features 15 of our feathery friends, all common to Raleigh, NC.
Highlighting the local theme, we chose to depict many birds perched among the branches of a flowering dogwood tree, as the Dogwood flower is the state flower of North Carolina. The state bird (the Cardinal) has also found its perch atop the doorframe.
You will also see more familiar friends, such as the Blue Jay, Robin, Humming Bird, and Woodpecker.
Here's the full list of birds depicted in the mural:
Northern Cardinal
Blue Jay
Tufted Titmouse
American Goldfinch
Carolina Wren
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker Woodpecker
Carolina Chickadee
Eastern Bluebird
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
American Robin
Common Grackle
Eastern Towhee
House Finch
Gray Catbird
Brown Thrasher
